A story of a soccer mom who moonlights as a dominatrix.
A Ukrainian courtesan and a KGB spy at eighteen is a Californian housewife at thirty eight. She's a gentle mother. She's also a dominatrix, savage and sweet Mistress Rose.
Only one man in the world knows her secret: her bondage client—a dashing sadist and—she suspects—a celebrity psychologist. What he doesn't know is that a cat-and-mouse game means death.
In my writing I draw on my life experiences: At nineteen, I was solicited by a KGB agent to become a prostitute-spy for the infamous Soviet institution and flirted with the idea. As an MFA student at Leningrad State University (the "Oxford of the East"), I chose to pursue a career in business. Years later, I wrote We, Monsters, the story of what could have happened, while juggling my motherhood responsibilities with a San Francisco dungeon dominatrix job.
We, Monsters is forthcoming November 2013 from
Numina Press.
